Course overview

At times, your body might react to a stressful event even before you are aware of the trigger. Even without conscious awareness, your brain and body have released a cascade of stress chemicals such as cortisol and adrenaline. This is one reason why clients cannot think their way out of the symptoms of stress or trauma; rather, you must work with the body to maximize healing. Time tested and research-based yoga practices can play an instrumental role in this process. While you might recognize the value of bringing the body into trauma treatment, you might not know how. Applying polyvagal theory within therapeutic yoga provides a powerful foundation for lasting changes that promote physiological balance and psychological wellness. Through the lens of polyvagal theory, you will learn all about how the vagus nerve is a bi-directional information highway between mind and body - more importantly, you will learn how to help clients fine-tune their health with yogic based breath, movement, and awareness practices that become the building blocks for emotional and mental health.
