Course overview

This presentations purpose is to familiarize participants with the DSM-5 Diagnostic criteria in its application to Stress-Related Trauma, PTSD as well as other subgroups of Trauma. The presentation will explain the etiology of Trauma from several venues including Internal Family Systems Theory, Polyvagal Theory, and other experts in the field of Trauma and treatment for Trauma including Bessel van der Kolk. The presentation will present clinical information to illustrate the symptoms of Trauma and the differences between subgroups. It will also present information pertaining to barriers in getting treatment, developing a comprehensive assessment and creating an informed environment to engage the client in treatment. The presentation will offer clinical suggestions to various treatment modalities including Yoga, EMDR, CBT, and ART THERAPY that has resulted in successful treatment. The presentation will conclude with an experiential exchange of information between participants and the presenter.
