Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is a treatment modality developed originally as Rational Emotive Therapy (RET) by Albert Ellis. It shares some commonalities with other cognitively based therapies that include Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectic Behavior Therapy. REBT is a short-term form of psychotherapy that helps you identify self-defeating thoughts and feelings, challenge the rationality of those feelings, and replace them with healthier, more productive beliefs. In this workshop, an overview of REBT and its similarities to and differences with other cognitively anchored therapies will be introduced. Various applications of this paradigm with the disorders it is most often used to treat will also be briefly discussed.
