At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to: 1. Review medications and lifestyle modifications that are recommended for the treatment of dyslipidemia. 2. Describe the 2018 AHA/ACC/Multisociety cholesterol guideline recommendations for hypercholesterolemia. 3. Identify LDL thresholds recommended in the 2022 ACC Expert Consensus Decision Pathway on nonstatin therapy. 4. Explain the risks and benefits of statin therapy. 5. Definition of statin intolerance and understand the evidence supporting the presence of the nocebo effect. 6. Recommend strategies to improve adherence with statin therapy. 7. Compare and contrast the mechanisms of action, efficacy, and outcomes data for new and novel nonstatin drug therapies. 8. Outline the evidence and role of nonstatins in treating patients with hypercholesterolemia. 9. Identify recommended treatment for patients with elevated triglycerides according to the 2021 ACC Expert Consensus Decision Pathway on hypertriglyceridemia. 10. Recommend appropriate drug therapy for patients with dyslipidemia.
