Implicit Bias

Course overview

How do people's assumptions of others impact their judgments, decisions, and behaviors due to implicit bias? How does implicit bias affect a person's workplace or community? These questions are just a few of what we discuss in our course, Implicit Bias. Bias can materialize from our need to categorize individuals by race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religious beliefs, or disabilities. This process can develop automatically and unintentionally and later form attitudes and prejudices. But learning and discussing bias may help reduce and control an individual's preconceptions toward a particular group.
