What you'll learn

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the anatomical structures of the heart.
  2. Differentiate between the cardiac phases of diastole and systole.
  3. Discuss the effects of sympathetic and parasympathetic stimulation of the heart.
  4. Identify components of the cardiac conduction system.
  5. Discuss the normal function of the heart that sustains hemodynamic stability.

Course overview

This course provides a review of cardiac anatomy and physiology and a brief overview of the conduction system. This information will equip the student with knowledge needed to identifying the hearts structural role in various disease processes.
