Course overview

It is estimated that 30% of adults and up to 80% of older adults will experience a vestibular disorder and could benefit from vestibular rehabilitation. This foundation course covers the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the vestibular system, common clinical presentations, assessment skills including standardized measures, and an overview of typical interventions. The roles and responsibilities of the therapist and the patient in managing vestibular dysfunction are discussed. The goal of this course is to provide physical and occupational therapy professionals with a foundational knowledge of the vestibular system and pathophysiology.
