We face a challenge to decide when healing a wound is realistic or when the focus needs to shift and become palliative instead. Healthcare providers often feel helpless as patients are at the end of life and experience an unavoidable wound. Technology for treating wounds and methods for improving quality of life are advancing exponentially. There are specific considerations and best practices when it comes to palliative wound care treatments. As such, it is vital for healthcare providers to remain current on the latest end of life wound care advancements and improve skills to focus more on patient-oriented goals.
