Treating and Preventing Disease with Nutritional Epigenetics
Tracking # 20-1008156
Course overview
Nutrients can alter gene expression in ways that have a significant impact on the development of chronic disease. Understanding these epigenetic pathways allows healthcare providers to accurately predict a patients disease risk and offer strategies to prevent its development through the use of precision medicine. This course will review how nutrients interact with DNA to regulate gene expression and the resulting implications for chronic disease. It will also review the risks associated with the commercialization of nutrigenomic products available to the general public. The goal of this course is to educate members of the healthcare team in the acute care setting on nutritional epigenetics and gene expression for adults.
