Course overview

In this course, occupational therapy professionals will learn the foundations of driving risk assessment and common impairments that may impact driving risk in older adults. The steps necessary to recognize impairments that interfere with safe driving and therapeutic interventions and adaptive equipment that may be used by a specialist will be discussed, along with resources to educate and engage your patients in this process. Learners will be able to identify how and when to refer to a driver rehab specialist (DRS) and actions to take when working with an individual facing driving retirement. The goal of this course is to educate generalist OTs/OTAs on driving assessment and treatment for older adults.
