Program content includes details of the OMIG requirements and what can be used by the administrator and leadership team to demonstrate compliance. Topics address:- the responsibilities of a compliance officer and committee under OMIG rules; review of the seven (7) OMIG elements of compliance, and how they relate to seven (7) elements from OIG and eight (8) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which also must be met; how to demonstrate compliance with OMIG expectations for implementation of each of the seven (7) elements should an audit be conducted by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit; assessing risk exposures related to organizational experience with the NY Medicaid program and nine other areas of risk identified by OMIG and/or CMS; ensuring that all required training needs are met for new hires and annually for all staff; and preparing required information in advance of an OMIG audit notice to ensure all expectations are being met ongoing, not just when proof of compliance is requested.
