Course overview

Occupational therapy practitioners play a key role in identifying and preventing errors, which can improve outcomes for patients, healthcare organizations, and communities. After taking this course, occupational therapists and assistants (OTs/OTAs) will understand the different types of medical errors and their potential impacts. Learners will be able to identify root causes of medical errors, prevention strategies, and methods for reporting errors when they occur. Tips for how you can stay up-to-date in clinical practice to reduce the risk of errors are also discussed. The goal of this course is to provide OTs and OTAs with information required to recognize, prevent, report, and respond to medical errors.
