Formalin is the fixative of choice in the vast majority of histology laboratories. But formalin is also an ingredient of choice in a wide variety of products that we encounter in our everyday lives. This lecture will focus on all things formalin, including the historical background of formalin as well as its laboratory and medical applications and the role it plays or has played in construction, food, beauty and household industries.
