Course overview

The average teen spends an average of 5 hours a day on social media, which can lead to depression, anxiety, cyberbullying, FOMO, negative self-esteem, and addiction to likes. In addition, the pandemic has only exacerbated these challenges. But what can you do about it? In this training, led by Dr. Tenille Richardson-Quamina, CSAT, C-DBT, you'll learn how to counteract the mental health effects of social media on your teenage clients using CBT and DBT skills. You'll explore evidence-based strategies for identifying and addressing the impact of social media on your client's mental health. Dr. Richardson-Quamina will cover topics such as cognitive restructuring, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation, as well as techniques for modifying these skills for the unique challenges of social media use. By the end of this training, you'll have a toolkit of practical skills and techniques to help your teenage clients manage their social media use and improve their mental health. You'll feel confident in your ability to guide them toward a healthier relationship with technology and empower them to lead fulfilling lives both online and offline.
