Schizophrenia - An Overview

Course overview

This course is a broad overview of schizophrenia including a comprehensive review of positive and negative symptoms, an overview of medications, and a brief discussion of causes, disease phases, disease courses, and treatment modalities including care interventions for patient with schizophrenia. The goal of this course is to provide an overview of the disorder and also help dispel the stereotypes associated with it. Suggested Audience - Nursing staff, clinical staff, hospital staff Upon completion of this presentation, you should be able to: - Differentiate between positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia. - Recognize the four disease phases. - Define schizophrenia. - Understand the risk of suicide among patients with schizophrenia.
