Course overview

The purpose of this course is to provide the dental team with a clear and concise plan of infection control practices. Dental workers may be exposed to a number of pathogenic microorganisms and must be aware of what to do to protect themselves as well as their families. OSHA regulations will be discussed. Learning Objectives: 1. To familiarize members of the dental team with the preventive measures issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) with respect for infection. 2. To provide dental team members with clear-cut, practical steps to prevent the spread of communicable diseases in the dental office. 3. To address the needs of dentistry as they change with the changing demands of infectious diseases. 4. To educate Dental Healthcare Workers (DHCW) and help alleviate any misconceptions regarding AIDS, Herpes, Hepatitis, and other infectious Diseases.
