Course overview
The goal of this course is to enable the healthcare professionals and nurses to the inhibit medical errors in the medical settings with the help of existing, evidence-based data. Course objectives: 1.- Thoroughly explain the meaning of medical error, sentinel event, never event, near miss and adverse event. 2.- Enumerate the different causes and classifications of medical errors. 3.- Discuss the extent and importance of medical errors in the existing healthcare settings in the US. 4.- Recognize groups of individuals who are susceptible to experiencing medical errors. 5.- Discuss the different methods and interventions to avoid medical errors. 6.- Give a comprehensive explanation of the components involved in the root cause analysis. 7.- Describe the different reporting requirements of medical errors.
