Course overview

Physical and Occupational therapists utilize effective evidence-based treatment interventions as part of their plan of care. Patients have varying degrees of adherence to home exercise programs that are an important part of their overall care. Additionally, tolerance for therapy and ADL's may vary throughout the course of treatment. RTM can bridge the gap between treatment sessions and ensure that issues with tolerance and adherence to therapy are addressed in a timely fashion. Ideally, after the plan of care is established, the patient is monitored for adherence and tolerance to the program. Thereby, the therapist is able to make modifications to the program in a timely fashion to promote the best outcomes. Established RTM codes, billing and documentation are complex and new to many therapists. They are unfamiliar and unlike other therapy codes. Therapists may not be familiar with how to utilize them to maximize therapy benefits.
